Herb Green Event Recap
Over 100 Gwinnett Democrats attended the 4th annual event this year. There was some concern as the heavy storms blew through the area but our special guests, Atty Gen. Thurbert Baker and State Party Chair Jane Kidd made it along with U.S. Senate candidates Dale Cardwell and Rand Knight. Many of our elected officials and candidates were also at the event. Pictures from the event can be viewed HERE .

Thanks again to everyone who attended, we truly appreciate you spending your Saturday with our Democratic family!

Gwinnett Young Democrats Reach Out

Young Democrats of Gwinnett County gathered at Global Mall for their first “Diversity and Outreach Initiative 08” tour on June 7th 2008. The Young Democrats of Gwinnett grouped at a time when the political landscape of Gwinnett County is drastically changing and the stakes are very high in 2008 election cycle. Ahmed Ahsan, Vice President of YD Gwinnett, saw the initiative as a chance to encourage the membership growth of the organization and outreach to all communities. Outreach Initiative 08 at Global Mall was a great opportunity for Young Democrats to address diversity and outreach to Americans of different origins and ethnicity.

Young Democrats also had the opportunity to hear from a number of candidates, including, Doug Heckman (candidate for 7th Congressional District), Vincent Passariello (candidate for Gwinnett County Chairman), Abby Alaoui (candidate for Gwinnett County Clerk of Superior Court), Earl Hendon (candidate for Gwinnett County Commission District 3), Jane Hendrix (candidate for Gwinnett County School Board District 3), and Ravinder Kumar (candidate for Gwinnett County School Board District 5).

Our chief guest, Representative Pedro Marin of GA House District 96, spoke of the important role that the Young Democrats plays within Gwinnett County. He also noted Young Democrats firm commitment to outreach and diversity.

Young Democrats of Gwinnett County is thankful to all the candidates and volunteers for their participation. Special thanks to Ahmed Ahsan, Matielyn Jones and Kelli Persons for their efforts.
